ISO 14001 Implementation
ISO 14001 implementation for UK businesses
I build your complete ISO 14001 environmental management system in Featherstone Safety Hub — environmental policy, aspects and impacts register, environmental legal register, objectives, operational and emergency controls, internal audit and management review — then guide you through certification with a UKAS-accredited body. You get genuine environmental credibility and a system that keeps running after the audit.
ISO 14001 implementation from £2,750 (typical range £2,750–£7,500, scoped to your size). I build and evidence the system and guide you through certification; I don't issue the certificate, and certification body audit fees are separate.
What ISO 14001 implementation involves
ISO 14001:2015 is the international standard for environmental management. Like ISO 45001 it follows the Annex SL structure, but the focus is your environmental aspects and impacts — the ways your activities affect the environment — and the legal and other requirements that apply to them.
Implementation means determining those aspects, putting controls and objectives in place, and evidencing that the system operates. I configure all of it in the Safety Hub's environmental module so your aspects register, legal register and records are live.
- Environmental aspects (cl.6.1.2): determine the aspects of your activities that have a significant environmental impact.
- Compliance obligations (cl.6.1.3): build and maintain a register of applicable environmental legislation.
- Objectives & planning (cl.6.2): set environmental objectives and the plans to achieve them.
- Operational control (cl.8): controls for waste, emissions, resource use and emergency preparedness.
- Evaluation & improvement (cl.9–10): monitoring, internal audit, management review and corrective action.
Built in the Safety Hub's environmental module
Your environmental management system lives in Featherstone Safety Hub. The environmental module already holds an aspects and impacts register mapped to ISO 14001:2015 cl.6.1.2, a legal register for cl.6.1.3, waste-transfer records with EPA 1990 duty-of-care guidance, and spill incident logging — so the core of your EMS is configured rather than written from scratch.
Internal audits, management reviews and corrective actions are recorded in the same system, which keeps your evidence current and makes surveillance audits painless.
From kick-off to certification
A typical ISO 14001 implementation runs over three to six months: a gap assessment (credited against implementation), the system build, a first internal audit and management review to generate records, then support through the certification body's Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits.
- Gap assessment: map your current environmental arrangements to ISO 14001 (credited if you proceed).
- System build: configure aspects, legal register, objectives and controls in the Hub.
- Run it live: first internal audit and management review create the evidence.
- Certification support: guidance through Stage 1 and Stage 2 with your chosen UKAS-accredited body.
Pricing
ISO 14001 implementation is £2,750–£7,500, scoped to your size, sites and current maturity, covering consultancy and the system build. UKAS-accredited certification body audit fees (typically £2,500–£8,000+ for an SME) are separate. Monthly maintenance from £199/month keeps you audit-ready afterwards. If you also need ISO 45001, an integrated system is around 20% cheaper than implementing both separately.
